JOHN J. SHANNON, 100

YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McCauley Funeral Home for John J. Shannon, 100, of 20 Saranac Avenue, who died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Shannon was born Feb. 21, 1901, in Reynoldsville, Pa., a son of John and Anna Sinz Shannon. He moved to this area as a child.
He was a tool and die repairman for Republic Steel for 50 years before retiring in 1965. He was a member of St. Edward Church.
His wife, the former Catherine Collins, whom he married July 6, 1929, died Jan. 22, 1983.
He leaves two sons, John of Boardman and Robert of Youngstown; a daughter, Donna Jenkins of Youngstown; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, William; two brothers, Thomas and William; three sisters, Nora Kelly, Pauline Shannon and Mary Shannon; and two great-grandchildren are deceased.
Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home.
