THOMAS J. BARBUSH SR., 77



POLAND -- Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church for Thomas J. Barbush Sr., 77, of 2998 Algonquin Drive, who died late Sunday in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
Mr. Barbush was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of John and Mary Strauch Barbush, and was a lifelong area resident.
A 1942 graduate of Chaney High School, he was a blast furnace foreman for U.S. Steel Corp.'s Ohio Works in Youngstown and later its Lorain plant. He worked for U.S. Steel for 40 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the church and Youngstown Oldtimers Baseball Club, and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, the former Doris M. Gaytko, whom he married Oct. 17, 1959, he leaves two daughters, Susan M. Casale of Howland and Lori A. Croyle of Youngstown; a son, Dr. Thomas J. Jr. of North Canton; three sisters, Mary Kizer of Mechanicsville, Va., Margaret Fedor of Bethesda, Md., and Catherine Olesky of Findlay, Ohio; three brothers, Raymond of Proctor, Vt., James of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Charles of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.
Two brothers, an infant and John, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the church building fund.
