WARREN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace AME Church for Odell Winfrey Jr., 81, of 1130 Main Street S.W., who died Wednesday evening at Wade Park Veterans Hospital, Cleveland.
Mr. Winfrey was born Nov. 24, 1919, in Athens, Ga., a son of Odell and Savannah James Winfrey Sr. He had lived in the area for 54 years.
He was an asphalt specialist for City Asphalt & amp; Paving Co. of Youngstown for 28 years before retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the church, where he was an usher, trustee, choir member and served on the church kitchen committee.
He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta in 1937, was an Army staff sergeant during World War II, and was a member of Laborers International Union of North America Local 935.
He leaves two brothers, John E. of Warren and Emory of New York City, and three sisters, Ella Pendergraft and Savannah Smith, both of Atlanta, and Sarah Thornton of San Bernardino, Calif.
A brother, James M., and a sister, Martha Loraine Smith, are deceased.
Friends may call from one hour before services in the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
