BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home for M. Margarete Slagle, 91, of 980 New Garden Ave., Salem, formerly of South Avenue, Boardman, who died Sunday evening in Salem Community Hospital emergency room.
Mrs. Slagle was born Sept. 27, 1909, in Franklin, Pa., a daughter of Lee W. and Ella M. Pyle Rice.
A 1927 graduate of Bessemer High School, she was a self-employed beautician and was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, deaconess and leader of its Friendship Circle.
She also was a 4-H adviser, a past matron of Eastern Star Columbiana 428, and past matron of the Amaranth in Canfield.
Her husband, Orville, whom she married Oct. 11, 1930, died Oct. 29, 1995.
She leaves a daughter, Melva Libb of Salem; a son, Lynn O. of New Orleans; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Nancy Slagle; two brothers; a sister; and a grandson are deceased.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.
