HOWLAND -- Limb and branch pickup for the township will start Monday and end May 11. Pickup is for trimmed or pruned, root-free branches only and not large trees. Limbs up to 6 inches in diameter should be placed next to the curb with the cut end facing the street. No firewood or large logs will be picked up.
2 men rob store
NILES -- Two men stole an undetermined amount of money from a party supply store in the Great East Plaza and ordered the cashiers into the store's restroom at gunpoint.
Employees at Party On, Youngstown-Warren Road, told police that two men came into the store about 8:40 p.m. Monday and browsed for a few minutes. They then came to the register, each brandishing a handgun, and demanded money.
After taking money from the register, the men ordered both cashiers into a restroom in the back of the store. The cashiers stayed in the restroom until they heard customers in the store, police said.
Meeting changed
VIENNA -- The Mathews Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday instead of the April 18 meeting it had originally scheduled.
The meeting will be at board offices, 4434-B Warren-Sharon Road.
Task force to meet
WARREN -- The city's community cable task force will meet at 5:30 p.m. April 23 in the caucus room of city council chambers, the Municipal Justice Building, South Street Southeast.
The public is encouraged to attend as the group continues to discuss the community's current and future cable needs.

Honoring dads
WARREN -- Fathers of Alden Elementary School pupils will be recognized Thursday for the role they play in children's lives.
Dad's Day III begins at 10 a.m. at the school with coffee and donuts in the school's family resource center. Dads will then visit classrooms and have lunch with their kids.
The day was designed to honor not only the fathers of Alden pupils, but also their grandfathers and other positive male role models. The school is at 350 Loveless S.W.

Break-in investigated
LAKE MILTON -- Township police are investigating an April 4 home invasion in the 13500 block of Gladstone Road in which a man and his wife were forced to open a safe and were injured. A large amount of cash and jewelry were taken.
The suspects may be driving a blue older model car with a loud exhaust and no front license plate.
A motorist who may have passed the car on Gladstone about 8:30 p.m. that night is urged to call Chief William Moretz or Detective Sgt. Ken Kovalchik at (330) 538-0078 or the county sheriff dispatcher at (330) 740-2370.
The suspects are both white men in their late 20s or early 30s. One is 6 foot 1 inch, 200 pounds, with dark brown shoulder-length hair and a thick neck. The other is 5 foot 9 inches and 140 to 160 pounds, with light brown hair and wearing a black leather jacket with gold triangles on the sleeves.
State hires local firm
COLUMBUS -- The state has hired Steel Valley Engineering Inc. of Youngstown for architectural services for a Stambaugh Auditorium improvement project. The State Controlling Board released $58,262 and waived competitive bidding for the contract.
Steel Valley Engineering will provide construction documents for the installation of a sound system and boilers and an acoustics study.
