BESSIE M. DRUMMOND, 90



EAST PALESTINE -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home for Bessie M. Drummond, 90, of 701 Alice St., who died Sunday evening in Salem Convalescent Center, where she had been a patient for three weeks.
Mrs. Drummond was born Oct. 29, 1910, in Signal, Ohio, a daughter of Homer and Ethel Harrison Hawkins, and came to East Palestine in 1942 from New Waterford.
She was a waitress at area restaurants, including the plaza at state routes 7 and 14. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Women of the Moose, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, AARP and East Palestine Senior Citizens.
Her husband, William F., whom she married Feb. 23, 1932, died May 1, 1977.
She leaves three daughters, Dorothy Butch of Cape Coral, Fla., Ruth Beight of New Waterford, and Mary Hostnik of East Palestine; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, Frank, Albert, William and Lester Hawkins; two sisters, Vyette Townsend and Mabel Crowl Fish; and a grandson are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
