EUGENE W. LALLEY, 74
EAST PALESTINE -- Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home for Eugene W. Lalley, 74, of 799 West Martin St., who died Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after a long illness.
Mr. Lalley, who was known as Gene, was born March 29, 1927, in East Palestine, a son of William J. and Lela Flowers Lalley, and had lived in East Palestine all of his life.
He was self-employed as an upholsterer at the former B & amp;L Upholstery, East Palestine, for many years. He had also worked for Pittsburgh Chair for 35 years.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ, East Palestine, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 467 and the American Legion George F. McBane Post 31. He also served in the Army during World War II.
His wife, the former Geraldine Fegert, whom he married Aug. 30, 1948, died March 22, 1996.
He is survived by a companion, Vici Mackall of East Palestine; two daughters, Mrs. Karen Montgomery of East Palestine and Mrs. LuAnn Thompson of Akron; four sons, Thomas E. and Robert W. Lalley, both of East Palestine, Richard A. Lalley of Maylene, Ala., and James E. Lalley of New Waterford; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Bolam of East Palestine, Mrs. Betty Dutcher and Mrs. Kay Mack both of Virginia; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Wendy Lalley; a sister, Helen Lalley; and a brother, Bud Lalley, are also deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Material tributes may be made to the East Palestine EMS.
