ALBERT J. REVELLA, 83 Owner-operator of Avon Oaks Ballroom



GIRARD -- Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Blackstone Funeral Home and 1 p.m. in St. Rose Church for Albert J. Revella, 83, of 497 Parkview Drive, who died Sunday morning in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren.
Mr. Revella was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Girard, a son of Salvatore and Carmel Ruggerio Revella.
He owned and operated Avon Oaks Ballroom in Girard for 36 years, and before that worked for the Girard Board of Education. He served in the Army in the 101st Airborne during World War II as a radio commander. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and achieved the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of the church and Army & amp; Navy Garrison 4422, VFW Post 419 and ITAM Club, all in Girard.
He leaves his wife, the former Donna J. Leith, whom he married April 29, 1947; three sons, Michael W., Albert J. Jr., and Andrew J., all of Girard; two daughters, Deborah A. Johnson of Greensburg, Pa., and Charmaine Karabin of Girard; a brother, Samuel of Girard; and 10 grandchildren.
A sister, Mary Novello, and two brothers, Michael and Andrew, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
