YOUNGSTOWN Fire injures three, damages motorcycles

Fire officials estimated the loss in the motorcycle shop fire at about $88,000.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three people were hurt and 16 motorcycles were damaged in a Saturday afternoon fire at Youngstown Cycle Supply.
Two employees were working on a motorcycle in the garage area of the business, 3616 Market St., shortly after 1:20 p.m. when gasoline ignited in the work area and caught the bike on fire, said Joseph Jasinski, assistant fire chief.
The blaze spread to the interior of the workshop, damaging a significant number of tools. The cycle the men were working on was destroyed, while 15 others sustained damage ranging from minor to heavy, Jasinski said.
The shop area took the brunt of the damage, though the showroom sustained light smoke damage, the assistant chief said. Structural loss was estimated at $20,000, while damage to the building's contents was set at $68,000.
The employees, Greg Blinsky of Youngstown and Zachary Wick of Canfield, suffered first-degree burns -- Blinsky on his face and Wick on his arms, Jasinski said. Megan Nadasky, a daughter of owner Jim Nadasky, was treated for smoke inhalation.
All three were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
The fire department also handled a fire at the home of Charles Thomas, 322 Chicago Ave., at 12:05 p.m. Saturday. The fire started in a mattress in a second-floor bedroom, and the cause is under investigation. No one was injured, and loss was estimated at $20,000.
