ROBERT D. FRANKLIN, 64 Educator worked in Crestview, Canfield
YOUNGSTOWN -- Robert D. Franklin, 64, of 2540 Skywae Drive, died of a heart attack Friday at home.
Mr. Franklin was born Feb. 5, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of Wilbur E. and Geraldine Franklin.
He was project administrator for Crestview School District during construction of its new building from 1993 to 1996. He was also a supervisor of the school building assistance programs for the Ohio Department of Education from 1990 to 1993.
He was a principal at Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School from 1986 to 1990, a teacher for Fort Worth Independent School District from 1984 to 1986 and was an overseas coordinator for various companies in Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Indonesia, Iran and Texas from 1977 to 1982.
He also taught in Canfield School District and Mahoning County Joint Vocational School. He worked for Xerox Corp. and was a journeyman ironworker.
He was a member of Free & amp; Accepted Masons on Wick Avenue in Youngstown. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Kent State University.
Besides his wife, the former Faith Smigel, whom he married March 15, 1976, he leaves four sons, Timothy Franklin of Youngstown, Scott Franklin of Columbus, Daniel Franklin of Canfield and David Nelson of Lake Milton; a brother, James of Canfield; and six grandchildren.
A brother, Wilbur, is deceased.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield. Private memorial services will be later. Contributions may be made to Angels for Animals.
