BENJAMIN T. CURRENCE, 83
WARREN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bazetta Christian Church for Benjamin T. Currence, 83, of 3500 North Park Ave. Ext., who died of congestive heart failure Friday afternoon in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Currence, also known as Ted, was born July 7, 1917, in Upshur County, W.Va., a son of Hiram G. and Alcinda Carpenter Currence, and came to the Warren area in 1942.
He was a crane operator for Republic Steel for 42 years and retired in 1980.
He was a member of the church, Middlefield Coon Hunters, Lakeview Coon & amp; Fox Hunters Association, Republic Steel Retirees, Steelworkers Local 1375, and AARP.
Besides his wife, the former Ruth E. Ray, whom he married Dec. 9, 1945, he leaves two daughters, Evelyn Ellerd of Garden Grove, Calif., and Helen Garland of Norfolk, Va.; two sons, Daniel H. of Champion and James R. of Warren; a sister, Tacie Phillips of Elkins, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, five sisters, two brothers, four grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren are deceased.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and for one hour before the services Tuesday in the church. Contributions may be made to the church.
