BASEBALL Reserve wins two games from Sebring
SEBRING -- Adam McDougal's two-run single broke an 8-8 tie in the top of the seventh inning to give Western Reserve High a 10-9 win over Sebring in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
The Blue Devils ripped 12 hits to win the nightcap 11-1.
Kyle Kekic slammed a three-run homer while Chris Mountain added two singles for Western Reserve in the opener.
For Sebring, Roy Steed had a double, single and two RBIs, Jason Nutter two singles and one RBI, Joe Eaton and Mike Baia each a double and single and Tim Ring two singles.
In the nightcap, William Kuebler and reliever Aaron Mayne combined to pitch a seven-hitter for the Blue Devils, Kuebler getting the win for a 2-0 record. Kuebler also had a double and three singles while Chris Mountain contributed a double, single and three RBIs and Andrew Lenhart and Bob Barney two singles and two RBIs apiece to also pace Western Reserve (7-2).
For Sebring, John Bacon had three singles.
West Branch 11-0, Alliance 0-9: BELOIT -- James Crutchley (2-0) worked five innings and allowed only two hits to pick up the win for the Warriors. He also went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs.
The Warriors took a 7-0 lead in the first inning. Josh Hurford had the only extra base hit of the contest, a double.
In the second game, West Branch fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and never recovered.
Ben Schuster went 2-for-3 for the Aviators, including a double. Brian Huffman hit two singles.
Adam Graham drove in three runs.
