YOUNGSTOWN -- Metropolitan National Bank is announcing a promotion, a reassignment and a new hiring. Carol Varverys of Boardman has been promoted to vice president. Varverys, branch manager of the Boardman office, began her banking career with Metropolitan in 1983 as a teller. She has an associate degree in business from Youngstown State University.
Patrick Lyons of Poland has been named branch manager of the Hubbard office. He has held various positions with the bank and was promoted to branch manager in 1997. He attended YSU. Ray Chartier of Boardman has joined the bank as branch manager of its new Canfield office. He has over 32 years of banking experience and had been a branch manager and vice president at another company before joining Metropolitan. He has a bachelor's degree from Mercyhurst College and is a licensed mutual fund specialist.
YOUNGSTOWN -- National City Bank is announcing a strategic corporate banking business realignment in its Northeast Region. Garry Mrozek, senior vice president of corporate banking, has assumed the new responsibility for corporate lending in a five-county area including Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. Mrozek, of Poland, has bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration, both from Youngstown State University.
David Dobstaff, vice president, has been named senior leader for the bank's eastern region. Dobstaff has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the State University of New York at Cortland and lives in Austintown. Dennis Koch, vice president, has been named a team leader in the bank's eastern region. A Boardman resident, he has a bachelor's degree from Penn State University.
Ted Schmidt, vice president, is also a new team leader for the eastern region. Schmidt is a certified public accountant and has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Youngstown State University. J. Gregory Yasulka, vice president, has been named a team leader in the Ohio Valley region, which includes East Liverpool, Steubenville, Martins Ferry and northern West Virginia. Yasulka has a bachelor's degree in finance from Walsh College and an accounting degree from Stark Technical College. He lives in New Springfield.
WARREN -- Second National Bank of Warren is announcing four new appointments. Greg Yurco has been named vice president leading the Mahoning County Commercial Lending Team at the Tippecanoe office. Yurco, who has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University, joined the bank last year. Brian Alfred has joined the bank as assistant vice president in the human resources department. Alfred has an associate degree in business management from Kent State University.
Jimmy Roan has been appointed vice president, managing the employee benefits function. Roan joined the bank in 1992 and has a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a law degree from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Michael Meaney has been named assistant vice president in the bank's trust division. Meaney has a bachelor's degree from Kent State University and a law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law. He also joined the bank in 1992.
MANUFACTURING
MASURY -- Gary Komsa has been promoted to controller at United Steel Service Inc., also known as UNISERV, with operations in Brookfield and Masury. Komsa, of Poland, has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University. He joined the company in 1990 and had been the company's accounting manager.
ENVIRONMENTAL
WARREN -- Timothy Goist, a Warren native, has been named vice president of the Southeast Region for ATC Associates, a provider of professional services in Woburn, Mass. Goist graduated from Badger High School in Kinsman and earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University and a master's degree from the University of Georgia.

GIRARD -- Mvi HomeCare is announcing three promotions. Sharyl Pancallo, a registered nurse from Poland, has been promoted to vice president of clinical services. She had been the regional home health care provider's director of clinical services.
Denise Baker, a registered nurse from Liberty, is the new vice president of sales and marketing. She had been director of sales and marketing. Diane Brookbank of Girard has been promoted to human resource manager. She had been an administrative assistant.
RETAIL
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mark Escaja has been named executive vice president of retail development for DeBartolo Property Group, LLC, a real estate investment group with offices in Tampa, Fla., Pepper Pike, Ohio, and Youngstown. Escaja is the former president and chief executive of Carrington Properties LLC, which he co-founded. He is a certified public accountant and holds a master's degree in finance and accounting from The Ohio State University. A Youngstown native and a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, he lives in Solon.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- James Till, a Youngstown State University graduate, has joined the law firm of Perkins Coie LLP in Portland, Oregon, where he is practicing bankruptcy and business law. Till has a bachelor's degree in business administration from YSU and a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law. He previously served as a law clerk to Judge Leslie Tchaikovsky in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern California District. Perkins Coie is the largest law firm in the Pacific Northwest, with more than 525 attorneys servicng clients from 14 offices in North America and Asia.
INSURANCE
YOUNGSTOWN -- Stanley Gilreath has joined Nationwide Financial Services as regional marketing director of agency financial sales for Northeast Ohio, which includes the Cleveland, Youngstown and Akron/Canton markets. A 23-year Nationwide employee, Gilreath has a bachelor's degree in mass media communications from the University of Akron. He had been an agency manager.

SHARON -- William Perez, senior account manager at Winner Advertising, has been promoted to vice president of account management, and Carol Schultz, Web designer, has been promoted to interactive account manager.
Perez has an associate degree in marketing from Kent State University and a bachelor's degree in business management from Youngstown State University. A Warren resident, he came to Winner from Enhanced Marketing Services in Cleveland, where he was marketing manager. Schultz has a bachelor's degree in graphic communications from YSU and lives in Hermitage. She was recently chosen as winner of the 2000-2001 Golden Web Award from the International Webmasters Association.

BOARDMAN -- Brian Richard, a Youngstown native, has been named property support manager for Northeast Ohio by Tharaldson Lodging. He had been night auditor at the Boardman/Poland Hampton Inn. Richard lives in Boardman.
