ALGERNON M. RAGER, 91



PETERSBURG -- Algernon M. Rager, 91, of Ron Joy Nursing Home, formerly of Petersburg, died around noon Saturday in St. Elizabeth Health Center of complications from surgery.
Mr. Rager, known as "Toad," was born June 7, 1909, in Enon Valley, Pa., a son of Charles L. and Charity Martin Rager. He lived in Petersburg most of his life.
He was a self-employed truck driver for many years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church here and a charter member of Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department.
His wife, the former Hazel I. Beight, whom he married Nov. 14, 1928, died May 8, 1991.
He leaves a daughter, L. Sue Davison of Enon Valley; a son, Al B. of Petersburg; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A son, Gene, and a sister, Cynthia Rohrmann, are deceased.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Petersburg Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Lutheran Church. There are no calling hours.
Contributions may be made to the church memorial fund or Springfield Rescue Squad. Arrangements are by Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine.
