Liberty Twp. man will face charges in drive-by shooting
LIBERTY -- A 20-year-old township man has been charged in the wounding of a Youngstown man during a drive-by shooting Tuesday.
Jeffrey Hammond of Timbercrest Drive was released from the county jail on a $25,000 bond set by Judge Michael Bernard of Girard Municipal Court.
The judge set a Wednesday preliminary hearing for Hammond.
Hammond was arrested Friday by Patrol Officer Pete DeAngelo on a warrant charging him with felonious assault with a gun specification.
Capt. Janet Virostek said Hammond was taken into custody on Belmont Avenue.
He is accused of shooting Andre DeVaugh, 20, of West Dennick Avenue, Youngstown, in the leg on Northgate Drive. Virostek said the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute among families.
DeVaugh remains in satisfactory condition in Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
