JOSEPHINE L. FERENCE, 87
YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church for Josephine L. Ference, 87, of 2300 Canfield Road, who died of congestive heart failure Thursday afternoon in St. Elizabeth Health Center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Ference was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Leavenworth, Kan., a daughter of Peter and Rosalea Terlecki.
She was a homemaker and was a caterer for the church for 30 years. She was also a governess for the Martyn D. Bently family. She was a graduate of North Jackson High School where she was a Latin scholar.
She was a member of the church and its Rosary Society. She was also a member and officer of Easter Seal Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Golden Pillar Senior Citizens, and Greek Catholic Union 164. She was a volunteer for the Republican Party voter registration.
Her husband, Emery, whom she married Sept. 22, 1941, died June 12, 1998.
She leaves a son, E. James of Mineral Ridge; two daughters, Judith Zimmerman of North Canton and Dr. Helen M. Ference of Carmel, Calif.; a stepsister, Rose Handel of Youngstown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Helen Pashkowski; three brothers, Michael, John and Leo Terlecki; and two stepbrothers, John and Nicholas Terlecki, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where a prayer service will be at 2 p.m.
