WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Shenango Valley Church of God, Hermitage, for Harry W. Farrand, 64, of 3472 Sharon Road, Lot 54, formerly of Spruce Avenue, Sharon, who died of prostate cancer Friday morning at home after a long illness.
Mr. Farrand was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Elton, Wis., a son of Ned and Verba L. Clark Farrand. He was a mobile equipment operator and filter plant operator for Sharon Steel Corp. for 25 years, retiring in November 1992.
He served in the Army for 11 years during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of American Legion Wildrose Post 370.
Besides his wife, the former Margaret V. Kettering, whom he married Feb. 14, 1958, he leaves four sons, Reynold of Bradenton, Fla., Gary of Fountain Inn, S.C., Danny of West Middlesex and David of Hermitage; two stepsons, Thomas A. Yarolin of Ravenna and Donnie L. Stamper of Abilene, Texas; two brothers, Gilbert of Clarksville, Tenn., and Herbert of Martinsville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Emery; three sisters, Joan Gerks, Gertrude Heistad and Irene Cartwright; and a grandson, are deceased.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by McGonigle Funeral Home, Sharon.
