MAY ISABELLA GILCHRIST, 91 Teacher in Edinburg, Volant schools
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Private services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, Bessemer, for May Isabella Gilchrist, 91, of 1233 Mount Jackson Road, who died early Thursday in Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Miss Gilchrist was born Feb. 24, 1910, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of James R. and Winona W. Weaver Gilchrist.
She was a teacher at Wilkens Area Junior High School in Pittsburgh and for Edinburg School System and Volant Schools. She was a member of the National and Pennsylvania Education associations, and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She was a graduate of Mount Jackson High School and Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She also was a member of Westfield Presbytery Church, where she served as a deacon and sang in the choir.
Among others, she leaves a sister, Ruth J. Gilchrist of Mount Jackson.
Two brothers, Norman A. and Glenn W. Gilchrist, are deceased.
