GERALD P. GIBSON, 71



BROOKFIELD -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Madasz Funeral Home for Gerald P. Gibson, 71, of 136 Brook Drive, who died Tuesday night in UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell after a short illness.
Mr. Gibson, also known as "Hoot," was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Hilliards, Pa., a son of William and Anna Shoup Gibson.
He retired in 1990 after 43 years as a millwright at Wheatland Tube in Wheatland, where he was a member of the United Steelworkers of America, and had also been a guard with Ohio Security Systems in Warren for two years.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of Hickory VFW Post 6166 and ran the horseshoe pitching league at the West Middlesex VFW post. He bowled at the Monday Night Classic in Hickory and at Bellwick Bowl in Hubbard and golfed in the Wheatland Tube League.
He leaves his wife, the former Hilda M. Jessup, whom he married July 7, 1970; a son, Kevin of Tucson, Ariz.; four daughters, Denise Miller of Greenville, Rhonda Rider of Hermitage and Deborah Perl and Tiny Stewart-Newransky, both of New Port, Mich.; a brother, Robert of Charleston, Pa.; five sisters, his twin, Geraldine Gibson of Parker, Pa., Dorothy Shardy and Evelyn McDougal, both of Transfer, Marge Pasley of Battle Creek, Mich., and Shirley Lucas of Mercer; and 12 grandchildren.
A son, James Stewart, and a sister, Althea Ellis, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.
