MARY L. KARDOS, 91
YOUNGSTOWN -- There were no services or calling hours for Mary L. Kardos, 91, of Greenwood Village, Colo., formerly of Youngstown, who died March 20 at her home.
Mrs. Kardos was born Sept. 1, 1909, in Youngstown. A graduate of The Rayen School and Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse and homemaker. From 1942 to 1965, she lived in Pittsburgh, moving to Sun City Center, Fla., in 1999, and later to Greenwood Village, Colo.
She taught bridge at the South Hills YMCA and taught CCD at St. Gabriel's Catholic School, both in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Sun City Center Emergency Squad, and for over 20 years was two-term chairperson of the Nearly New Shop and the Sun City Interfaith Council Charitable Organization, which raised funds to provide college scholarships to the underprivileged. She wrote poetry and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Her husband, Michael J., whom she married Dec. 29, 1936, is deceased.
She leaves a daughter, Mary Vierling of McDonald, Pa.; two sons, Neil of Greenwoood Village and Donald of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
