NORMA E. BURNS, 79 Was co-owner of Burns Farm Market
HUBBARD -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Norma E. Burns, 79, of Briarfield Nursing Home, Cortland, formerly of Warner Road in Hubbard, who died Monday morning at the nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Burns was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Sharpsville, a daughter of John and Emma Jones Ryhal, and lived in the area all her life.
She was co-owner of Burns Farm Market on Warner Road for 41 years, operated Burns Candy and Cake Kitchen for 36 years, and taught cake decorating for 20 years for adult education classes at Hubbard High School.
A 1941 graduate of Hickory High School, she was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sharon, where she played organ for 50 years, and also was a member of Decorettes cake decorating club of Hubbard and Liberty for 30 years.
Her husband, Howard C., whom she married Dec. 18, 1941, died July 30, 1994.
She leaves a son, Leslie E. of Brookfield; two daughters, Norma Jean Hinchcliffe of Elyria and Delaine Collins of Girard; a sister, Emma Dixon of Independence, Mo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Linda Lee Burns, died in infancy, and a brother, Everett D. Ryhal, is also deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
