HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL Southington hurler throws strikes



Brittney Campana registered 19 strikeouts in the Wildcats' 14-0 rout of Fairport.
SOUTHINGTON -- Sophomore Brittney Campana pitched a two-hitter with 19 strikeouts and no walks for the Southington High softball team, as the Wildcats rolled to a 14-0 win over Fairport Harbor in an East Suburban Conference game Monday.
Campana also had two singles and one RBI. Kristy Sabo added two singles and two RBIs, Lindsey Phillips two RBIs and Katie Fiest two singles and one RBI, to aid Southington (2-0, 2-0).
Michelle Hogya had two singles for Fairport.
Fitch 9, Mooney 0: Brianna Ozias pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts for Austintown Fitch (3-1, 1-0 Steel Valley Conference).
Julie Ledford had three singles and two RBIs and Joanna Fergus added two singles and two RBIs, while Angela Zdelar had two singles for the Falcons.
Melissa Larosa's triple was Mooney's (2-1, 0-1) only hit.
Boardman 15, Warren Harding 0: BOARDMAN -- Jennifer Feret slugged two homers, a three-run shot and a solo blast, plus a run-scoring single for five RBIs, to pace Boardman (5-0, 1-0 SVC).
Jaclyn Carroto added a double, single and two RBIs for the Spartans. Marissa Bartholomew and Jennifer Pancake combined to pitch a four-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Lindsey Romack had three singles for Warren Harding (1-3, 0-1).
Hubbard 5, Canfield 3: CANFIELD -- Freshmen Lynle Cornell and Kelly Hudy combined to go 7-for-7 for the Eagles (2-2).
Cornell was 4-for-4 with a double and five RBIs, while Hudy, a shortstop, went 3-for-3 and had a double.
Campbell 8, Niles 7: NILES -- Shannon Pavlansky (1-1) went the distance on a four-hitter and she had two singles while Missy Colon had a triple for the Red Devils (1-2).
Jenna Gouias had a double for Niles which scored twice in the last of the seventh inning for the final margin.
LaBrae 17, Girard 0: GIRARD -- Jackie Sanderson had four hits, while Andrea Gibson, Rachel Higgins, Joy Hartman and Lisa Klingensmith all had three for the Vikings. LaBrae had 25 hits.
Kendra Needles limited Girard to just one hit, a double by Amber Knoll.
Springfield 4, South Range 3: NORTH LIMA -- Maggie Marsh had three hits while Jessica Snyder, Renee Warren, Ashley Platt and Brook Tabaka each had two hits for the Tigers (3-0, 1-0 Inter-County League).
Springfield had 13 hits but left 13 runners on base.
South Range scored all its runs in the fifth inning after trailing 4-0.
Western Reserve 3, Jackson-Milton 2: NORTH JACKSON -- Jaclyn Speece (3-1) pitched a seven-hitter with six strikeouts for Western Reserve (4-1, 2-1 ICL). Speece outdueled Corey Velk, who had a six-hitter with nine strikeouts.
Ronda Barth collected a triple, and single and one RBI to also key Western Reserve.
Niki James and Jessica Hemphill each had two singles for Jackson-Milton (0-5, 0-2).
