STRUTHERS Titans soccer event set at Valley Sports



This weekend's games will be played indoors and outside.
STRUTHERS -- Ten former area high school soccer players will be in action on the Westminster College men's and women's teams when the Titans soccer tournament is contested this weekend.
Valley Sports, Ltd. in Struthers is the sponsor and host site of the tournament.
There are 12 women's teams and eight men's teams that will play in the two day-long event. Games will be played indoors and outside at the facility.
Scott DePasquale of Howland, Jim Houser of Boardman, Andrew Rudloff of Lakeview and Zack Hudson of Newton Falls play for the Westminster men's team.
Participants: Former Hubbard High standouts Tammy Newell, Meagan Chovan and Michelle Chovan will play for the Westminster women in the tournament along with Erin Chittock (Warren JFK), Danielle White of Howland and Sharon Griffin of Canfield.
The women's field includes Franciscan University, John Carroll University, Lake Erie College, Westminster, Malone College, Oberlin College, Geneva College, Mt. Vernon College, two teams from the MVP soccer club, the UPG Knights and an SOI entry.
Playing for the Lake Erie team are Katie Jayne and Kristin Antonchak of Niles and Abby Bricker of Salem.
Women's games, which will be contested on Saturday only, begin at 8:30 a.m., with the championship set for 4:20 p.m.
The men's tournament, which will run on Sunday, includes Waynesburg College, SUNY-Brockport, Thiel College, two Westminster teams, two MVP squads and Castillo & amp; Company.
The men's games start at 11 a.m., with the final beginning at 5:30 p.m.
