SEBRING -- Memorial services will be at 8 p.m. today at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home for Robert E. Harvey Sr., 68, of 332 S. 15th St., who died late Friday in Alliance Community Hospital.
Mr. Harvey was born June 28, 1932, in Boone, Iowa, a son of Orrie and Marie Bomar Harvey, and lived in this area for 37 years.
He was a welder for Transue & amp; Williams Steel Forging in Alliance before retiring in 1981. He was a Methodist.
He was a two-time Golden Gloves champion, and also boxed professionally. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, having achieved the rank of sergeant.
He was a member of VFW Post 6730 and American Legion Post 76 in Sebring and was involved in the management of several baseball teams in the local Hot Stove League.
Besides his wife, the former Morlene Rice, whom he married Sept. 23, 1954, he leaves a daughter, Julie Knotts of Sebring; four sons, Gregory of Westville Lake, Ohio, Buddy of Lake Milton, Robert Jr. of Canfield and Andrew of San Clemente, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
An infant daughter, Marie; a son, Michael; and a brother, Buck, are deceased.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until time of services today at the funeral home.
