What: About 835,000 Zapper toys distributed by eight companies.
Reason: The balloon tongues and the cylinders holding the tongues can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Description: The vinyl Zapper toys are 2 to 3 inches long and come in a variety of styles, including a smiley face, a tiger and a bear. When the toy is squeezed, the balloon tongue inflates or rolls out.
Sold or distributed from: October 1998 through March 2001 by toy stores, doctor and dentist offices, and carnivals and circuses nationwide. When sold, they cost about $1.
