JOHN YAROSH Sr., 76



WOODWORTH -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Boardman, for John Yarosh Sr., 76, of 9100 Luther Ave., who died of respiratory failure late Saturday in Specialty Hospital of Mahoning Valley.
Mr. Yarosh was born July 1, 1924, in Pittsburgh, a son of Kalenic and Katherine Macznar Yarosh, and came to this area in 1945 from Pittsburgh.
He was manager of Ryder Truck Line in North Lima for several years and was self-employed truck owner/operator who did long-distance hauling. He retired in 1977.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Woodworth Church of the Brethren and the Youngstown Traffic Club. He volunteered for the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels in Youngstown and Tampa, Fla.
His wife, the former Betty Townsend, whom he married June 19, 1945, died July 26, 1987.
He leaves three sons, Frank of Barrington, Ill., Clifford of Lutz, Fla., and Paul John of Tampa, Fla.; four daughters, Sally Thornburg of Woodworth, Ohio, Peggy Allen and Katherine Yarosh, both of Tampa, Fla., and Dorothy Yarosh of Lutz; three brothers, Nicholas of Mercer, Ted of Conneaut Lake and Kalenic of Sagertown, Pa.; a sister, Anna Clayton of Meadville; and 11 grandchildren.
Two sons, John Jr. and Michael, and a brother, Wasel Yarosh, are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and for one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
