Sue Borawski picked to Ashland 'hall'



ASHLAND -- Susan Borawski of Sharon is one of four selections to the 2001 class of the Ashland University Hall of Fame.
A former member of the Ashland women's cross country and track and field teams and a 1986 graduate, Borawski was a six-time national qualifier in both sports combined. She gained the national four times in cross country and twice in track.
In track, Borawski qualified in 1986 in the 3,000-meter run and placed ninth; and in 1983 in the 5,000, finishing 15th.
Induction ceremonies will be held April 8, at the Ashland University All-Sports and Hall of Fame Induction Banquet.
Borawski will be joined in the Hall by Dave Biondo (football, class of 1988), Fred Graham (basketball, 1980) and John Walters (cross country and track, 1989).
Won Peace Race: Since college, Borawski won the International Peace Race 25-kilometer run in Youngstown.
She also has posted wins in the Canfield 4-Miler, Meadville 20K and Keystone Games 5K races.
Borawski also placed third in the 1987 Cleveland Revco Marathon.
She produced her best marathon time in the 1988 Houston Tenneco Marathon in 2:55.23.
Borawski is an aerobics instructor with the Sharon Regional Health System Personal Fitness Center, and has been a cross country coach at Kennedy Christian High since 1986.
She also has been an area manager and coach for the Mercer County Special Olympics.
