Long Description: The Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio will host a Falusi Lakadalom, or Mock Village Wedding, on Aug. 16 at the club grounds, 12027 Abbott Road. Gates will open at noon. Guests to the event will enter and pass through an authentic, hand carved welcoming gate, Skékely Kapu, built in 2006 by a master woodcarver from Transylvania. Admission is $5 per person and children under 16 enter for free. Authentic Hungarian dishes will be available for purchase, including stuffed cabbage, pork slices, Hungarian sausage, potatoes, elephant ears, bacon fry and Hungarian pastries. Lajos from Transylvania Bakery will serve baked goods including kurtus kalacs, crackling biscuits, and lemon and dobos tortes. Music will be provided from 2 to 6 p.m. in the dance pavilion by the Harmonia Orchestra. The mock wedding will begin at 3 p.m., and will be performed in English so that guests can understand the traditions and other details of the wedding. A kids corner will begin at 2 p.m. and include face painting, Hungarian heritage projects and more. The Cultural Center’s events are open to the public as the organization strives to share its ethnic heritage through music, food, language and camaraderie. For information, call president Mary Jane Molnar at 440-352-9504.
