Long Description: The time is quickly approaching for area crossword puzzle enthusiasts to sharpen their lucky pencils, put on their thinking caps, and head to the library for Salem Public Library’s Crossword Puzzle Tournament, Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 1– 4 p.m. This event will take place in the library’s Quaker Room at 821 E. State St., Salem, OH 44460. The tournament will feature previously unpublished crossword puzzles created by Will Shortz, editor of crossword puzzles for The New York Times and puzzlemaster for National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition Sunday. He is founder and director of both the American Crossword Tournament and the World Puzzle Championship (1992 and 2000). Mr. Shortz is author or editor of more than 400 books. Registration is required to participate in this event. Prizes will be awarded to finalists. For more information and to register stop in or call the library at 330-332-0042.
