Long Description: YSU Away Game Tailgate Fundraiser For YSU Maintenance Employee Donn Candella Televised at the DeBartolo Stadium Club Saturday, October 16, 2010 Kickoff Begins at 7 p.m. – YSU vs. Western Illinois Doors open at 5:30 pm so come early to Enter Drawings for Gift Baskets, Raffles, and a 50/50 Tickets will be sold at the door for a donation of $10 or buy a ticket early from any YSU Maintenance Employee Food included in Ticket Price Cash Bar includes Beer, Pop, & Water Donn has worked at YSU in the Facilities Department since October 2007 and his most recent assignment was in Cushwa Hall. Donn was diagnosed in April 2008 with leukemia. He received an allogenic bone marrow transplant from his brother, Terry. Unfortunately, the leukemia has again resurfaced in June 2010. Donn is to receive another bone marrow transplant on September 21, 2010. This transplant will be from a different brother, Keith. Because this is Donn's second bone marrow transplant, he is at a significantly higher risk of serious complications. Despite all this, Donn and his family remain optimistic for his recovery. Donn & Gloria McFall Candella have two children. Anthony, 12 who is a 6th grader at Campbell Middle School, and Adrianna, 7 who is a 1st grader at Campbell Elementary School. Prior to getting sick, Donn enjoyed spending all his free time with his children, including teaching them how to golf. Donn's goal is to successfully receive this transplant, return to work at YSU, and continue to spend as much time with his children and wife as possible, including watching them graduate from YSU.
