Long Description: The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley presents the 6th Annual “GAME OF HOPE CHARITY CLASSIC” on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at YSU's Beeghly Center. In conjunction with TV stations 27 First News & FOX 17/62; WYTV & MyYTV; radio stations 95.9 KISS-FM, MIX 98.9, & News Radio 570 WKBN, Accent Media, UAW Locals 1714 & 1112, NEOEA (North Eastern Ohio Education Association) and the Lamar Advertising Company, the annual celebrity basketball winter classic benefits the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley; a non-profit organization which raises funds that benefit chronically/terminally ill children in the valley, so that they may have the experiences generally afforded healthy children. The day is plenty of fun for the entire family and over the past five years has raised nearly $40,000 for the aforementioned groups. To ensure its continued success, however, we need your help. Teams are comprised of local celebrities, dignitaries and media, all from the valley, with tip-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Community leaders who have participated in the past include Congressman’s John Boccieri & Tim Ryan, YSU Athletic Director Ron Strollo, Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, Jim Graham & David Green from GM-Lordstown, John Reardon of Ohio Super-Fin. Inst, Jeff Pegg, President of NEOEA, Mike Sciortino, Mahoning County Auditor, Mahoning County Commissioner John McNally, Youngstown City Councilman Paul Drennen, Felix Wright from the Cleveland Browns and Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray.
Cost: $6.00
