Long Description: Each year for the last nine years, Bill Philson, MCHS Executive Director, has led tours of Mercer Borough and its cemeteries, focusing on various aspects of the Civil War and the Underground Railroad. On Oct. 15 and 22, guests will depart from the Society’s headquarters at 7 p.m. and are expected to return by 9. Take a lantern or a flashlight, the tour is sometimes dark and bumpy. The tour will cover a distance of about 1.5 miles. Those who cannot walk that distance can be arranged to meet the tour at various stops. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Old Mercer Cemetery, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and the Western Pennsylvania Civil War Reenactors Society.
