History

Melody Verba-Case, a Youngstown native, was born in May of 1978. Since the age of nine, she has been involved in music, studying classical flute and voice. Receiving many honors throughout her high school career, in 1996 she won the Dorian Award for best musician in the Youngstown City Schools.

During her college years, Melody continued her studies at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University. Although she earned her way into some of the top ensembles there, she felt herself drawn to songwriting and arranging, inspired by the music of Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, and Queen.

Now relying on piano and keyboard as her main instruments, Melody began private study to further her self-taught skills. Upon a friends encouragement, Melody spent a short but enjoyable time as a keyboardist, backup vocalist, and jazz flutist for a Warren, OH based band called Saints and Sinners. Now back in the Youngstown music scene, she resumed her solo career with renewed enthusiasm when she met a local bandleader who introduced her to the realm of funk music. Since October 2006, Melody has been working with the popular funk/rock band Geo C and Tha Storm.
