History
Grand Fury is an original rock band from Northeast Ohio. They've been compared to bands such as "Queens of the Stone Age", "Stone Temple Pilots", "Clutch", and "Fu Manchu".
Beginning in 2005, drummer Ryan Shelar, guitar and vocalist Sean Ewing, and bass player Jake Luther began writing songs together with no set direction on how the music should turn out. As the band began to gel, the music gravitated towards a heavier "stoner rock" sound with some classic 70's rock thrown in for good measure.
All three members have a history together. Ryan and Sean were recently in an indie pop rock band together called "the bixbies" where they played in multiple venues across Ohio and Pennsylvania. Sean took a break with "the bixbies" in 2004 to record a number of tracks with New York recording engineer/producer Ryan West (Jay-Z, Just Blaze, 8 Mile Soundtrack) in a project dubbed "Hundred Sundays".
Ryan and Jake have been in numerous bands together and have formed a tight relationship together as a rhythm section. They began playing together in '98 in a rockin' band called "Rex Mundi" then went on to form "Positraction" a successful Doom/Stoner Rock band that took part in such festivals as "Stoner Hands of Doom" and "Emissions From the Monolith". "Positraction" morphed into "Cobra Axis" when the direction went into a more traditional Metal sound.
Jake and Sean, while never playing together until now, have known each other since they both started playing out in separate bands in the late 80's and early 90's.
Having recently completed their debut EP in the Winter of 07 they are currently set to to hit the studio in the fall of 07 to work on our first full length
