" WE MADE A MISTAKE " Why is it that sometimes those words---"We Made A Mistake"--- are so elusive, especially by 'public officials' ? YOUNGSTOWN — The 18-year-old accused of murdering an 80-year-old woman in a church parking lot had been in the Mahoning County jail on $500,000 bond 90 days before the killing. Jamar Houser of Volney Road had been indicted in October on felony charges of firing a gun into a home, aggravated menacing and assault. He asked Judge Lou D’Apolito, Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, to reduce the $500,000 bond Nov. 10. The bond was reduced to $20,000...Authorities believe Houser gunned down 80 year old Angeline Fimognari after she left a Catholic Mass in So-Yo(south Y-town)... . Mahoning County Prosecutor Paul Gains advised that his office can only use the information it's given, and that no one sent him a note or a report justifying the unusually high bond of $500k for Houser, who was charged with 1 second degree Felony. Hey, does one REALLY need to include a 'NOTE' when bond was set at a half of a MILLION dollars? Wouldn't THAT cause one to look a bit deeper before agreeing to a SUBSTANTIALLY reduced bond---from $500,000 to $20,000??? What do I mean "agreeing"? On Oct. 31, Houser was indicted on aggravated menacing and discharging a firearm at or into a habitation. He had been in jail on a $500,000 bond since his September arraignment in Municipal Court. His attorney filed a motion asking that the bail be reduced, and Judge Lou D'Apolito granted the motion on Nov. 10, reducing it to $20,000, which Houser posted soon after. My understanding is that when bond is set, there's someone from the prosecutor's office present that is able to argue the amount of bond requested by defense lawyers- in this case, I understand the lawyers are Michael Villani and Tom Zena. Again, SOMEONE HAD to be there from the County Prosecutor's office to approve the lowering of bond.----Lawyers--am I correct??? ---and , again, I'm not a lawyer-but I don't think that I'd need a "note" in a file of a case where a FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR bond had been set---that's MORE than a "note" - that's flashing red lights AND sirens to this autodidactic radio guy ! City Prosecutor Atty Jay Macejko's coming on the show Wednesday. I have , once again, asked County Prosecutor Paul Gains to come on-----and unfortunately-as usual- I don't think he has the ___________(fill in the blank) to speak with, or to, me and / or y'all. The question that plagues me is : WHY WON'T THE COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE SAY :
