| Reasons for running | It has been a goal of mine to run for Mayor of Hubbard. Attempting to run in 2008 as an Independent, I was removed from the ballot because I voted in the Democratic Primary. Not aware that this was a violation, I along with 4 other area candidates challenged this ruling, taking it to the Ohio Supreme Court before having it dismissed. I believe my years as a Councilman have provided me the necessary experiences to run for Mayor, as I have always had the best interest of Hubbard my top priority. In addition to serving on Hubbard Council, I have also been active with the youth of our community, initiated a Block Watch Program for the 2nd Ward. |
| Priorities | When elected, I plan on increasing our economic development, reaching out to businesses looking to relocate or expand. Hubbard has several (well maintained) vacant warehouse / manufacturing facilities, and I would offer incentives to bring jobs to the city which would boost the city's income tax base. As the Chairman of the Safety Committee for the past 8 years, I was influential in instituting a School Resource Officer at our school's campus. In addition to the safety committee, I am also serving my 3rd term on the Board of Directors with the Eagle Joint Fire District (Chaired the Legislative, Finance and Board Chairman) and implemented the 2nd Ward Block Watch. Safety has always been a top priority that can NEVER be overlooked. I have plans that would increase all safety forces in our community. Another priority of mine when elected will be to modernize the payment methods of our utility department making our charges transparent and easily understood. I will also maintain our street resurfacing program and will enforce the zoning regulations assuring all properties are maintained according to the guidelines that have been enacted to ensure our community remains a great place to live and raise a family. |
| Qualifications | I believe my years on City Council (10th year), and as a Board of Director with the Eagle Joint Fire District (3rd Term), makes me a viable choice for becoming the Mayor of Hubbard. I have always been"in-touch" with the community as I have been active donating my time to the Hubbard Community Youth League, serving 3 Years of Vice President, coaching baseball, softball and basketball for over 15 years. I have also implemented the 2nd Ward Block Watch and have participated in various disaster drills including A.L.I.C.E. training for an active shooter, chemical and weather disasters that may hit our community. In addition to these services, I believe my experiences as starting my own business, marketing to Manage Care Organizations, The Bureau of Workers Compensation and networking with businesses throughout Northeast Ohio provides me the experiences needed to increase our economic development. |
