Food sales and dinners through May 22

THURSDAY

Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided. This is the last week to order. Sales will resume in September.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will take orders for fresh potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. or until sold out Thursday and at 10:30 a.m. Friday, if available, by calling 330-746-9528. Pick up will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Lunches also will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell pirogi Friday. Call in orders Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until sold out by calling 330-755-1316. Choose potato, kraut or prune pirogi at $6 per dozen. Pickup will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins not accepted. Final sale of the season will be May 24.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will have a pirogi sale. The cost is $6 per dozen. Potato, cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi are available. Phone orders will be taken from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday. Call 330-542-3525 to order. Pick up will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, is selling potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome.

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield Niles Road, Austintown, will host Supper at the Corner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The meal is free as a community outreach of the church. Donations accepted to continue the program.

Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will host a creamed chicken takeout only dinner from 2:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. Cost is $8 and includes creamed chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuit, mixed vegetable and homemade cookie. For information, call the church at 330-758-3143 or Janet at 330-501-2104. FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. Cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children. Dessert will be an additional $2. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 330-792-1005.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will be selling potato and cheese pirogi Friday. To order, call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $7 a dozen. No containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Use the side entrance. This will be the final sale until September.

SATURDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will host its 30th annual chicken barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. Dinner includes one-half barbecued chicken, baked potato, green beans, applesauce, roll and butter, slice of pie and a drink. Cost is $9 for adults and $7 for children younger than age 12. Dinner will be dine in or takeout. For information, call 330-549-2588. Proceeds benefit the church’s ministries and the surrounding community.

Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will host its 20th annual Kentucky Mountain Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Menu includes sweet potato casserole, honey baked ham, Kentucky corn bread, creamed chicken on homemade biscuits, green beans, bean soup, cobbler or derby pie and a beverage. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 3 to 12. Proceeds benefit the mission trip to Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Ky.

New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, will have a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Meals are $10 for adults, $5 for children and free to children 4 and under. There also will be a bake sale during the dinner.

SUNDAY

VFW Post 2799 Auxiliary will host a homestyle breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the post home, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield. Menu includes eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes, freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea. Cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

TAKING ORDERS

St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, is taking orders for chicken noodle soup, green bean soup and potato soup. Cost is $6 per quart. Orders must be received by Friday by calling Tim Komara at 330-519-9036. Pickup will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 22.

Aut Mori Grotto, 563 North Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, will have its monthly pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon May 25. Menu includes all-you-can eat pancakes (only), link sausage, scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage gravy and biscuits, coffee and juice. Cost is $6 per adult, $3 for children under 12 and children under 3 eat free. The Aut Mori Grotto is a nonprofit organization comprised of master masons that supports local charities such as Akron Children’s Hospital, Sojourner House and dental care for challenged children under 17 years of age. First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge, will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon June 15. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children age 4 to 11 and free for children under 4. Extra sausage will be $1. This event is in conjunction with the Weathersfield Flag Festival.

Friends Of Fido will host its “Pasta For Pups” spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. May 23 at Argus Lodge 545, 5050 Shields Road, Canfield. Dine in or take out. The event will feature a basket raffle and bake sale. To purchase a ticket in advance or for information, call Pam at 330-318-0846. If anyone donates a bag of Pedigree dog food (20 pounds or more), they will receive a free sheet (26 chances a sheet) for a basket raffle. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 13 and under.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima, will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. May 25. An all-you-can-eat breakfast or brunch will be available for a donation. Menu includes eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade pastries, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will sponsor a free neighborhood community dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. May 28 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown.
