Church to host sale and dinner

NORTH LIMA

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., will host its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be a barbecued chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Menu includes chicken, choice of pulled pork or kielbasa, rice pilaf and coleslaw. There will be cookies for dessert. Cost is $12. For information, call the church office at 330-549-2406.

Guild to host plant sale

CANFIELD

The Holborn Herb Growers Guild will host its herb and plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the vegetable building on the Canfield Fairgrounds, Gate 5, on state Route 46. The sale will feature a large selection of herbs, perennials, succulents and fairy garden plants. Twice-loved perennials also will be available. A twice-loved book sale will take place.

Guild members will be on hand to assist with purchasing and to answer questions. The second printing of the guild’s cookbook “Herbal Fare” will be available for sale. Rescue to host adoption event

F5RS, a nonprofit, no-kill bunny shelter and sanctuary, will host an adoption event at Pet-Smart, 1101 Doral Drive, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19. Justice 4 Joi walk planned

The second annual Justice 4 Joi NICU Love & Support Walk will take place Saturday at the Watson & Tressel Training Center, 361 Elm St. Check-in will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and the event starts at noon.

The purpose of the event is to raise NICU awareness and funds for the March of Dimes. The mission of Justice 4 Joi is to provide specialized care packages, hospital events, financial assistance and supportive services to NICU families.

PUMC to host rummage, bake sale

POLAND

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will host a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Open to the community, the event will allow people to buy gently used household items, furniture and clothing. Pepperoni rolls and baked goods also will be for sale.

Proceeds will offset expenses associated with the church’s Live Nativity, which is a free annual event that takes place in December. More information can be found on PUMC’s Facebook page.

OH WOW! to celebrate birthday Saturday

In celebration of its eighth birthday, OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology, 11 W. Federal St., downtown, will offer buy one/get one free admission from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature cake, ice cream, food from Suzie’s in the InspireWorks Lab and a dance party from 6 to 8 p.m.

Chakra class planned

The Pokeberry Exchange, 41 N. Mercer St., will host “Discover Your Inner Chakras” with Kristine DeFelice of Your Essential Self at 1 p.m. Saturday. Beginners are encouraged to attend. Learn the location, meaning and function of the seven chakra points. Each participant will create their own chakra stone bag. Cost is $15. Reservations are required and seating is limited. OhioCAN event planned for Saturday

OhioCAN (Change Addiction Now) Mahoning County is sponsoring a day-long, family-oriented community event, Steps of Change, centered on addiction awareness and recovery in a stigma and judgement-free environment from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St. Laura Cash, a harm reduction advocate, will be the keynote speaker. The event will include informational resource tables, a memorial shoe display, lights of hope to acknowledge those in recovery, a drum circle, live music, a basket auction, 50-50 raffle, children’s activities and food. The community is encouraged to bring shoes, pictures or other mementos for the memorial display to remember loved ones lost to overdose. Those still struggling with substance abuse are invited to come and receive free narcan training and a kit.
