Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association is celebrating 100 years of amateur radio this year. The club is asking any former members or anyone with information about former members to reply. Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will have its April 9 meeting at A La Cart Catering in Canfield beginning with networking at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30. The menu will feature southern baked chicken, Swiss steak, buttered parsley potatoes, peas and carrots, tossed salad, applesauce, gelatin, dessert, coffee and tea. Cost is $18 per person. Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will celebrate its 15th anniversary at 5:30 p.m. April 10 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. The theme will be “Crystal Showers Sprinkle Flowers.” Dinner will be served at 6. Cost is $21.50 with choice of stuffed flounder, chicken Francaise or Swiss steak jardiniere and includes tossed salad, red potatoes, cake and ice cream. Upton House Association will continue its “Morning at the Upton” series at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. Participants will listen to Harriet Taylor Upton and president William McKinley in conversation, as presented by E. Carol Maxwell and Mike Wilson. First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will host the Rev. Nelson Perez, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. April 13 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller, and Frankie Hammond will cue line dances. The theme will be “1970s Disco.” This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild will host its 17th annual Spring Extravaganza Style and Creativity Show from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. May 4 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. In addition to the show, there will be a judged Denim Recycling sewing challenge for members. Cost is $24 for members and $27 for non-members and includes a full course lunch. Be Kind To Your Mind, a Christian group, will meet at The Way Station, state Route 14, Columbiana, on Monday. This six-session group will include prayer, meditation, mindfulness and other resources for healing the mind and body. It will be led by Judy A. Shields, a counselor at Total Care Psychological Services in Boardman. She has conducted many groups at Beatitude House and other local organizations. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will host an “I See Trees of Green” luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 10 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Boardman Historical Society will sponsor a lecture at 10 a.m. April 13 at the Boardman Public Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. Traci Manning, local historian and curator of education with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will give a presentation about “Founding Mothers: Great Women in Mahoning Valley History.” Catherine Dougherty-Hillman, Dora Schwebel, Mary Ann Campana and others will share stories and struggles. Grief Share program will be hosted by Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, on Thursday. Grief Share is a Christian, Christ-centered program.
