Craig Needham, captain of the Youngstown Phantoms, has committed to Providence College.
“I wanted to be closer to home,” said Needham, whose hometown is Medford Mass. “Providence is 45 minutes [away]. I grew up around Hockey East — that was a big thing for me. That’s where I feel I can fit in best.”
Earlier this winter, Needham, who centers Brett Murray and Jack Malone, canceled his commitment to the University of Maine. Distance was a factor.
