On May 22, Boardman’s Class of 2019 was recognized during the annual Honors Assembly.
Approximately $4.3 million in scholarship money was awarded to and accepted by the class of 2019. The annual senior awards ceremony honors high performing students in academics, athletics and the arts. There were 24 “First in Class” students with perfect 4.0 GPAs during their high school career.
At least eight seniors are pursuing military careers with substantial scholarships including two appointments to the prestigious Military Academy at West Point and the Air Force Academy.
Winners include one National Merit Finalist and two National Merit Commended scholars. One hundred and five students will receive “honors diplomas” for the rigorous coursework completed and 137 students will be “honors graduates” with a 3.5 GPA or above.
Thirty-nine seniors also received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence for superior academic achievement in math and reading. There are a total of 331 members of the Class of 2019.
“The Spartan Class of 2019 is a hardworking and exceptionally talented class,” said Principal Cindy Fernback. “It is our sincere privilege to honor these high performing students.”
