Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau will host the 2019 Columbiana Wine Festival from 4 to 9 p.m. July 19 and from 2 to 9 p.m. July 20 in the Town Center at Firestone Farms, 101 Town Center Ave. The $1 each water and pop sales will benefit the Community Hospice. The event will feature live entertainment, food, artisans, vendors and wine selections from Barrel Run Crossing Winery & Vineyard, Luva Bella Winery, Mastropietro Winery, The Vineyards at Pine Lake and more. Girard Lions Club will host its 25th Annual Golf Outing on July 20 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. Registration will take place from 8 to 8:45 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9 will begin the event. Cost is $70 per person for a four-person scramble and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, steak dinner, beer and soft drinks all day, hot dogs and chips at the turn and a basket auction. Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, will host its Strawberry Festival from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The event will include strawberries, ice cream, shortcake, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, snacks and beverages. There will be a 50-50 drawing and summer basket raffle. Winners need not be present. Graveyard tour will be offered at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the PPC Parish Life Committee and PPC youth programs. This event will take place rain or shine.
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St., Youngstown, (across from Choffin Career & Technical Center) will host its 35th annual Summer Fest from July 11 through 14. Lamppost Farm, a nonprofit organization dedicated to using agriculture to reach and teach others through education, hospitality, stewardship, discipleship and quality food, will host Farmageddon 2019, a chew and brew, from 4 to 8 p.m. July 28 at 14900 Market St., Columbiana. Each of five participating food trucks will be teamed with a local craft brewery in a competition designed to showcase a signature brew and complementing chew using Lamppost’s meat. Participants vote for their favorite pairing. Ballots will be drawn throughout the evening for prizes. Tickets are $50 per person and include a sampling of food and beer at each of five food truck/brewery pairings, an event pint glass, live music and games. McDonald Track & Cross Country Boosters will host its 18th annual Run of the Mill 1-Mile Race at 5:45 p.m., prior to the homecoming festival parade, Wednesday. Sunshine Benefit Outing will sponsor its 14th annual event July 20 at Lakeside Golf Course, 2404 SE River Road, Lake Milton. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Kimberly L. Armstrong of Boardman, a mother of two who is battling stage 4 breast cancer. Armstrong is employed in the lab department at St. Elizabeth Health Center. The outing is a three-person scramble that includes a continental breakfast with lunch at the turn. A steak fry will follow at Magilla’s Sports Bar, 225 Four Mile Run Road, Austintown. The dinner includes the awarding of prizes for hole events, a 50-50 raffle and raffle prizes. Cost is $225 per team, which includes food and cocktails. The dinner for those who don’t golf is $30 per person or $50 per couple. The cost of sponsoring a hole is $100 and $50 for a program ad. TownCenter at Firestone Farms in Columbiana, corner of state Routes 7 and 14, will host a benefit car show from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds from the event will remain in the community and be used to benefit the Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation, which raises funds to support patient care at SRMC. In addition to the classic and specialty vehicles, the festivities will include a basket auction and 50-50 drawing. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in free health screenings provided by SRMC and browse the TownCenter’s specialty shops and restaurants. Following the car show, attendees can stay for live music by the John Reese Project from 7–9 p.m. The event is open to the public, and admission is free. The cost to register a vehicle in the show is $5. All makes and models of cars, trucks, jeeps, semis, motorcycles and tractors are welcome. “On the Banks of the Mahoning: How the River Shaped the Valley,” the first joint exhibit between Mahoning Valley and Trumbull County Historical Societies, will be on display at the Tyler History Center, downtown Youngstown, through Sept. 15. The exhibit, staged in the Youngstown Foundation Community History Gallery, explores the river’s importance to the indigenous people who originally inhabited this area and how the early settlers found the waterway’s wealth of resources. Over time, the Mahoning River has transformed and been transformed by industry, transportation, and recreation. The Tyler History Center is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 4. p.m.

Poland Historical Society will offer walking tours of some historic sites in Poland at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Identical tours of the 1865 Poland Riverside Cemetery will occur.
