Summer camp offerred

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will offer its Summer Day Camp from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24 to 28 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St. Participants will learn about the history of radio and television broadcasting both locally and on a large scale. Students will tour local stations and studios, learn from local media personalities and experts, work with the business and media archives and create their own news broadcast about a local history topic. Civic league to host luncheon June 23

The Junior Civic League will host its annual scholarship luncheon at 2 p.m. June 23 at Holiday Inn South, 7410 South Ave. Nine scholarships will be awarded to local high school graduates. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Sherri Lovelace-Cameron, Youngstown State University Graduate program director for the chemistry department and full-time professor.

Penn State Extension to offer classes

NEW CASTLE

Penn State Extension will present anger management classes from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and June 27 at the New Castle Public Library, 207 E North St. Participants will learn to recognize their triggers and constructive ways to manage anger. The training also will address the five types of anger. The registration fee is $50 per person. Those who complete the class will receive a certificate.

The Valley Legacy Awards Committee is accepting nominations until July 1 and nominees will be recognized at the Valley Legacy luncheon that will take place Oct. 10 at The Maronite Center. The awards will be for Outstanding Senior for professional excellence, Outstanding Senior for community achievement and Outstanding Senior Advocate. Family night set for Saturday

BOARDMAN

Boardman Park will host “Family Night in the Park” from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Maag Outdoor Theatre. There will be children’s bouncers, activities, a balloon artist, David the Great, Dom Tocco and the Brotherhood and a viewing of “Mary Poppins Returns.”

Book discussion group will meet at library

SALEM

The adult book discussion group will meet at 7 p.m. June 25 at the Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., in the Quaker Meeting room.

The book chosen for discussion is “Eleanor and Hick: the Affair that Shaped a First Lady,” written by Susan Quinn, and is a dual-biography of the 30-year relationship between Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena “Hick” Hickok.
