The Michael Kusalaba library hosted the Supernatural, Intergalatical Summer Reading Spectacular Magic Show on June 7.

Magician Jeff Wawrzazek hosted the show, combining magic and reading for a unique experience.

“Having the library available is what allowed me to become a magician,” Wawrzazek said.

He explained that he learned his first magic trick from a library book, and has been coming to the library to learn about magic ever since.

“They’re important, they’re detrimental to children’s learning,” Wawrzazek said. “But more than that, I want to show that library can be fun.”

During the event Wawrzazek put on a number of tricks for the audience.

More than 35 children and their families watched as Wawrzazek used cards, rope and other tools to create different tricks.

Calling up volunteers from the audience, a number of children got to participate in the show.

Wawrzazek gave all of them space themed gifts for their assistance.

Librarian Allison Graf said that the event perfectly fit the theme of this years summer reading program, A Universe of Stories.

Throughout the event Wawrzazek encouraged children to use the resources at their disposal at the library.

“He really is great, and it’s always a fun show to watch,” Graf said.
