CLUBS

First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will welcome the Rev. Stephen Popovich at 11:30 a.m. July 11 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. The Rev. Mr. Popovich, retired pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, New Middletown, will speak on “Science and Religion.” There will be an opportunity for questions after the presentation. Mahoning Valley Young Professionals will host a mixer at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Youngstown Country Club,1402 Country Club Drive. The event will feature networking and appetizers. Monday Night Writers will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the small meeting room at the Canfield library, 43 W. Main St. Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend. Led by professional writer Nancy Christie, author of “Traveling Left Of Center And Other Stories,” “The Gifts of Change” and “Rut-Busting Book for Writers,” this two-hour session will offer an opportunity for members to get group feedback on works-in-progress. Outspokin’ Wheelmen Bicycle Club offers a varied choice of bicycle rides daily and is seeking new members. Check out outspokinwheelmen.com for information. Stitches in Time, a get-together opportunity at the Salem library, 821 E. State St., for adults who do string and/or yarn crafting, will meet in the Quaker Room on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The next meeting will take place Wednesday. Trumbull County Travel Club has the following trips planned: Wednesday to Cleveland for “Let’s Explore Ohio” day trip; Aug. 14 for the oddities of the Canton area; Sept. 9-17 vacation to South Dakota; and a Nov. 2 outing for a gingerbread tour in Pennsylvania. The club is open to anyone over the age of 21. There are no dues, and meetings are twice a year at various locations within the area. William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kravitz Deli meeting room, 3135 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Alzheimer Network Family Support Groups will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E.
