Barnes & Noble to host author event

Barnes & Noble, 381 Boardman-Poland Road, will host two authors, Paula Lazor and Lori Leachman, at noon Saturday. Lazor is the author of “Beyond the Box: How Hands-On Learning Can Transform A Child and Reform Our Schools.” Leachman is the author of “The King of Halloween and Miss Firecracker Queen: A Daughter’s Tale of Family and Football.”

Barnes & Noble also will host Educator Appreciation Weekends each Saturday and Sunday from now through Sept. 15.

College to host Mission Conference

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

The New Wilmington Mission Conference will host its 114th annual gathering today through July 26 at Westminster College, 319 S. Market St. The afternoon registration today begins the conference with 11 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. speakers each day. For information, visit www.NWMCmission.org. The NWMC is the longest-running mission conference in the United States.

Learn about Google Slides at library

SALEM

Kathy Bennett, technology instructor at Salem Public Library, will lead a class on how to use the online presentations app Google Slides from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday in the library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. State St. A presentation made with Google Slides allows for the addition and editing of text, images or videos in a presentation. Sharing work with others and publishing work to the internet may be done quickly and easily. Seating is limited and registration is required. Beatitude House requests donations

YOUNGSTOWN

The Beatitude House is asking the community to donate school supplies today through Aug. 9 at the administration building at 238 Tod Lane for the fast approaching 2019-20 school year. Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday each week.

Traditional supplies are needed but some specific items needed are as follows: one-inch binders, flash drives, plastic folders, three and five subject notebooks, note cards, book covers, pencil boxes, pens, colored pencils, highlighters, red pencils, mechanical pencils, big block erasers, calculators, hand sanitizer, paper towels, sandwich and large baggies, sanitizing wipes, dry erase markers, wide-ruled and college-ruled notebooks or loose leaf paper. Gifts cards to Target or Walmart also are appreciated.
