Alta Care accredited

Alta Care Group recently received a four-year national accreditation from the Council on Accreditation, an international, independent, nonprofit, human-service accrediting organization that partners with human-service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying and promoting accreditation standards.
Alta Care Group has two divisions: Alta Behavioral Healthcare, a contract agency of the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, young adults and families; and Alta Head Start, which operates the federal Head Start and Early Head Start programs for Mahoning County, providing children from 6 weeks to 5 years and their families with early childhood education services.
Providers get training
MERCER, Pa.
Kimberly Doyle and Krista Armstrong, providers at Rock Creek Wellness, 60 Franklin Road, Mercer, recently underwent Adverse Childhood Experiences Study training that enables them to offer education and trainings to the community on how to prevent negative outcomes and increase awareness surrounding the problems people face.
ACES is based on a study that looked at adults’ adverse childhood experiences, such as abuse or divorced parents, and compared those to their current physical and mental-health status. The study found that the greater the number of adverse childhood experiences, the more likely individuals were to suffer from both physical and mental-health problems later in life.
The study and training also demonstrate that certain resiliency or protective factors provide a buffer that reduces negative outcomes. The goal of the training is to increase a collective understanding of the impact of trauma and develop an awareness of resiliency factors in order to mitigate adversity. Knowing the impacts of difficult experiences and learning about how to build resilience can help with long-term success and positive outcomes, officials said. Alta Care gets grant

Alta Care Group recently received $60,000 from the Children’s Mental Health Circle of Friends Foundation. The funds will be allocated as follows:
Intensive Home-Based Treatment Program, $30,000; works exclusively with children and adolescents with serious emotional and/or behavioral disorders who are at significant risk for out-of-home placement.
Camp Challenge operations (summer program), $20,000; scholarships allow youth with no third-party insurance coverage to attend Camp Challenge.
School-based mental health services, $10,000; provide on-site counseling and support to youth with emotional and behavioral disorders.
