Chickadee Feeding

When: Today, 9 to 11 a.m.

What: Black-capped chickadees are inquisitive birds that can be coaxed into landing on your hand – especially if you tempt them with food. Learn more about these incredible songbirds with a naturalist. We’ll provide the birdseed if you provide the hands.

NATURALIST CHAT

What: Stop by the nature center to chat with a naturalist and learn about seasonal and phenological happenings here at Mill Creek MetroParks.

WINTER WONDERLAND

When: Sunday, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

What: Join Naturalist Salam Farhan for a hike through the woods to explore the outdoors and appreciate the beauty of winter. Dress for the weather; waterproof shoes or boots recommended. Easy, 1.4 miles.

COHASSET HIKE

When: Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

What: Join Naturalist Arika Preas on the maiden voyage for this series of programs designed for women of all ages. Lake Cohasset supposedly means “Place of Pines/Hemlocks.” Come find out why. Easy, 2.5 miles.

THE SNOW MOON

When: Monday, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

What: We’ll hope to crunch the cold crunchy stuff as we walk along Lake Cohasset – scenic day or night. Wear sturdy shoes. Moderate, 2 miles.

STARTING SEEDS

When: Jan. 28, 9:30 a.m. to noon

What: It may be cold outside, but you can still start to think about starting your seeds. A good start to life is key to the success of any plant, so join us to learn how to start those seeds. Speaker will be Peg Zeleznik, master gardener volunteer

Where: OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

Cost: $15 per person includes refreshments, handouts and giveaways

PICTURE PERFECT
