Glenn named Horizon League Batter of Week

Youngstown State junior infielder Blaze Glenn has been named the Horizon League Batter of the Week for the period of Feb. 18-24, the Leaguee announced on Monday.

Glenn, a Second-Team All-Horizon League selection last season, earns the award for the first time in his career.

Glenn batted .500 with two singles, a double, a two-run home run and four RBIs in eight at-bats over three games this past weekend at No. 6/11 Florida State. He also recorded eight total bases, two walks, three runs scored and an OBP of .545 while slugging 1.000 for the weekend for the Penguins (0-6).

The Toronto, Ohio, native went 2-for-4 with a single, a two-run homer and a run scored while driving in both of YSU’s runs in a hard-fought 4-2 loss on Friday. With a runner on in the top of the first inning, he rocketed the first pitch he saw from FSU starter Drew Parrish off the scoreboard in left field to give the Penguins an early 2-0 lead. It was Glenn’s second homer of the season; he also hit a two-run shot at No. 9/15 Mississippi State on opening weekend.
