The Canfield High School boys swim team placed sixth overall with 126.5 points at the Northeast District swim meet at Cleveland State University in a field of 64 teams on Feb. 15.
Jason Paris placed sixth in the 50 free (21.86) and ninth in the 100 free (49.93). Bobby Kutsch placed 11th in the 100 fly (56.23) and 14th in the 50 free (22.29). Matthew Peckman placed 12th in the 100 free (50.26) and 16th in the 50 free (22.39). Luke Dietz placed 14th in the 200 individual medley (2:07.83) and 15th in the 100 back (58.75).
Connor Fritz placed 13th in the 100 back (57.62). Rob DiDomenico placed 14th in the 500 free (5:17.06) and 20th in the 200 free (1:57.89). James Dietz placed 22nd in the 100 free (52.36) and 26th in the 50 free (23.58). In the 100 breaststroke, Joe Klepec placed 19th (1:07.38) and Ty Schaab placed 20th (1:07.40).
Jason Paris qualified for the state meet in the 50 free. The 200 free and 400 free relays also qualified for the state meet. The 200 free relay team of Kutsch, J. Dietz, Peckman and Paris placed fourth at districts with a time of 1:28.86. The 400 free relay team of Kutsch, J. Dietz, L. Dietz and Paris also placed fourth at districts with a time of 3:17.61. The 200 medley relay of Fritz, Klepec, DiDomenico and Peckman placed ninth (1:44.62) at districts, missing qualifying for the state meet by eight spots.
Canfield High School girls swim team member Sydney Schuler placed 33rd in the 200 free (2:05.60) and 35th in the 500 free (5:46.00) at the District 1 swim meet on Feb. 16. Elle Dawson placed 33rd in the 100 back (1:04.63).
